TRANSFORMING TALLIS

Students designed and built installations using existing objects (readymades) to build “camps” to form a kind of theatre set. Performances were then devised using the set and  including strategies like mask work. All resources, furniture, still life objects were gathered from the school and placed in an unusual setting, turning the school inside out.

TALLIS TRACES

Students created interactive installations in The Crate, the school’s Pop Up Gallery, and the art courtyard. The first two workshops were used to collect resources (rubbings, sound recordings, video, found objects, photographs). The final session was the making/hanging of the installation. The curation of the event was completely student-led.

GHOST SCHOOL

Students created a dance piece based on their response to found sounds and music samples. They also used aspects of the building (stairs, cupboards, corridors, open spaces) to inspire their own sound compositions. The performances were filmed and shared on the project website.

DRAWING WITH LIGHT

These workshops created a photographic response to the school using a variety of traditional and digital techniques including pinhole, photograms, cyanotypes and iphoneography. On the second day we created two room sized camera obscura. The process was documented using video and audio and shared on the project website.

PLAYING TALLIS

Students created a video wall of sounds of Tallis using the building and a variety of musical instruments to generate the noises. The finished videos were presented together on a dedicated website and visitors were able to create their own unique sound compositions based on the order in which they played each clip.
